MEET BOB

Not a Politician

Just a concerned citizen who got tired of the status quo

Robert "Bob" Yanacsek has been a resident of Union County since 1978.  He graduated from Forest Hills Highschool in Marshville NC in 1988.  He received his Bachelors of Science from Wingate University in 1992.  Bob has been a Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Officer for 25 years.  He is the proud father of two children and his eldest is currently attending Wingate College.

Bob bought a 105 year old house in Monroe 7 years ago and has discovered the joys (and pains) that come with being the caretaker of an historic property.  As a result of this purchase, he soon volunteered for and served a term on the Monroe Historic District Commission, helping others with the sometimes monumental task of preserving and caring for the historic homes that surround downtown.

Bob is an avid aviator, flying a vintage aircraft in airshows around the East Coast and can be seen flying over Monroe in various small aircraft if the weather is right!

Bob is the foster dad to several rescue dogs and 2 rescue cats.  He is very active in the animal rescue community, working with The Union County Humane Society and  Pawsitive Impact NC .  He also enjoys transporting  injured birds and other critters for Carolina Waterfowl Rescue. It is through this work that he has developed a desire to affect positive changes to city animal codes and improve quality of life for even our four-legged residents.

Bob is the co-founder of Warriors & Warbirds, a non profit organization that focuses on preserving the history of aviation, educating the community and ensuring that those who gave their lives in service to their country are remembered.

He also enjoys re-runs of The Andy Griffith Show & Star Trek, watching extreme weather videos and a good rocket launch. His favorite movies include The Martian, The Right Stuff and Top Gun. During the film boom in Monroe you might have caught Bob in a few cameo roles in the Cinemax series "Banshee".
